Ashington Basketball Club is the latest club to emerge from South East Northumberland, starting in September 2007. Alongside excellent support from the Ashington Community High School Sports College and Gary Douglas, the coaching is provided by the area community coach Anthony Sampson.
The club has teams taking part in various age gruops in teh Central Venue League run by the ECF.

The Vikings have been established as an independent club for around 18 months now, formally known as Blyth Valley Basketball. The club provides the opportunity for all to learn basketball for fun, in a friendly and structured environment or to progress to a competitve environment through the CVL league. The club currently enters teams in the Under 12's, Under 14's, and Under 16's age group of the CVL. We are trying to develop a girls team and wouls love to hear fron any girls who would like to get involved.
Martin our Head Coach is Level 2 qualified and runs the Under 12 and Under 14 teams. Steve White our Under 16 coach is level 1 qualified, he used to be a national league player and he represented the British Army team in his younger days where he was a physical training instructor, so his knowledge and contribution to the club is valued. The club has around 40 members and is working towards a Level 2 Club Mark status which we hope to achieve early in 2008.

Morpeth Basketball Club has just celebrated its 10 year anniversary and has grown from initially running just one team to running four, ctaering for all ages from nine years through to adult level. During that time the club has always competed in the SeniorTyne Met League, with the 1st team twice gaining promotion to the First Division, although currently the two senior teams are competing in Divisions Two and Three respectively.
The club has a very healthy junior section, running two teams in the Central Venue League at Under 14 and Under 16 levels. In fact, Morpeth were on of the four teams involved in the CVL from the outset five years ago. The Under 16 team are the current defending champions in their age group.
